Hi, my name is Dani.

My name is Dani Jaffe, a strategic communication professional originally from Baltimore, Maryland. For the past five years, I have lived in Lexington, Kentucky (which, by the way, if you asked me ten years ago if I had ever thought about living in Kentucky — I would have said ‘absolutely not’ — but to my surprise, I have fallen in love with this city. It is a true hidden gem.) I am now a 2x graduate from the University of Kentucky, and I begin to feel a little more like a Kentuckian every single day.

While I am a photographer and artist at heart, I decided to take a different path in college and found myself falling in love with strategic communication and public relations. I learned that strategic communication would give me the fast-paced and fun environment I was looking for, with the creative edge I crave. I currently serve as the Strategic Communication Associate Director for the University of Kentucky’s Office of Public Relations and Strategic Communications. In my role, I split my time between executive communications and crisis communications. Additionally, I serve as the public relations liaison for the UK Police Department.

During undergrad, I was a member of our nationally recognized and award-winning 2022 National Student Advertising Competition Team. That year, our team created a head-to-toe strategic campaign for the Meta Quest 2 (f.k.a. Oculus Quest 2) and placed fourth in the country out of 107 competing colleges and universities. We also earned the Admall by SalesFuel Best Use of Marketing Research Award for the second year in a row, becoming only the fourth school out of 18 years of this award to earn this title twice.

In my graduate studies, I focus primarily on research in message design and persuasion.

SKILLS

  • In my current role, I actively write standard press releases, feature stories, quotes and occasionally speeches for my various areas.

  • Certified by Google Analytics

  • I am a social media expert — in and out. In my various roles I have been responsible for utilizing a social media schedule and developing posts for increased following, engagement and strategic positioning of a brand.

  • I have been always fascinated by photography and have been taking photos for over a decade. I have been trained in digital photography and editing through my education at the University of Kentucky. On the side, I partake in occasional lifestyle family photoshoots for friends, and I am an avid film photographer, as seen on Instagram :)

  • I have been an Adobe user for over ten years, and I am actively learning new skills in my free time (Adobe should be something everyone should know!)

  • Through the NSAC team, I learned how to create a head-to-toe strategic campaign for Meta Quest 2, positioning them in a brand new way to break into a brand new audience. This experience, on top of my education in Integrated Strategic Communication, has given me an incredibly deep understanding of this.

  • I have always considered myself a natural leader — leadership is a huge part of my identity and always has been.

  • Through my undergraduate and graduate education, I have learned and partaken in a variety of market research methods to inform strategic communications for a brand.

  • In a variety of my roles, I have used SalesForce to pull reports and for internal and external communications. I’ve also used MailChimp in similar ways.
